Joyce Jenereaux Named President and Publisher of Detroit Free Press

Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) today named Joyce Jenereaux president and publisher of the Detroit Free Press, effective May 16, 2015. Jenereaux will also retain her responsibilities as president of Michigan.com, which represents all of Gannett’s community publishing properties in Michigan, and serves as business agent for The Detroit News.

Jenereaux has been president of the Free Press since 2013, and president of Michigan.com since 2011. Prior to that, she served as executive vice president of Michigan.com.

“The addition of the publisher’s title acknowledges the many vital contributions Joyce has made -- both to the Free Press and to the Metro Detroit community it serves,” said Robert Dickey, Gannett’s U.S. Community Publishing president. “Her leadership has helped build the voice of the Free Press and position it for a strong future.”

Jenereaux, a Detroit native, started her media career in 1990 as a financial analyst at Michigan.com. Earlier, she earned her CPA designation at the public accounting firm of Deloitte. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Eastern Michigan University and serves as chairman of the board of Forgotten Harvest, the nation’s largest food rescue organization.

Michigan.com represents the state’s largest media audience through the broad portfolio of digital and print products from the Detroit Free Press, Lansing State Journal, Battle Creek Enquirer, Port Huron Times Herald, Livingston Daily Press & Argus and Observer & Eccentric Media.
