To celebrate this Spring's beginning of San Francisco's alfresco season, diners were presented with a new outdoor seating option at the bay's famous Ferry Building. Long-time tenant Frog Hollow Farm Cafe opened a breathtaking 24-seat patio with an up-close and impressive view of San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge. They extended the cafe hours to 7:30 pm Monday through Saturday.
To go along with the new outdoor space and the existing pastry and seasonal stone fruit offerings, Frog Hollow Farm Cafe has also expanded its menu. The farm's Culinary Coordinator, Anna Buss, is working alongside Frog Hollow Farm’s Executive Chef and owner, Rebecca Courchesne (aka Chef Becky), to create delicious new recipes and cafe food offerings. Together they have brought Frog Hollow into the savory food realm with daily cafe items like sandwiches, empanadas, soups, salads, and pizza topped with a garden pesto that rotates with the season. To support the cafe menu additions, farmers Kristin DeRose and Marlene Hild are now farming a half acre of organic vegetables and herbs at the farm in Brentwood, California. Farmer Al envisions a true farm-to-table vertically integrated experience to be continually expanded in the farm kitchen and at the cafe in the months to come. His idea is to implement a real farm-to-table ecosystem for Frog Hollow Farm.
He is even growing nine acres of barley to be used to brew an organic beer in partnership with a San Francisco brewery.
