New products come into the marketplace everyday and this is particularly true in the case of devices or accessories used in the medical field. This new device was designed by a mother to assist her young son, Julian with his trache tubing, thus the name, the Julian Strap. It is an assistive device specially designed for use in tracheotomy care and stability. The design intent is to provide an easier and more effective means of managing trache tubing for both the caregiver and the patient by securing the trache tubing to the body, allowing the patient to move or be moved without disturbing the tubing itself.

It is an elongated unit in various adjustable lengths in order to accommodate users of any stature. It is fashioned from durable yet flexible neoprene material. The Julian Strap would be wrapped around the chest of the patient and adjusted for comfort, then secured by way of Velcro® fasteners. The strip size Velcro® fastener located in the center of the entire strap would be be wrapped around the tubing to secure it to the Julian Strap and as such also the body. It even allows patients to move about freely even when connected to a ventilator, It is easy to clean and will withstand multiple uses for as long as a trache is required. Televised test marketing has been completed indicating exceptional consumer interest in the Julian Strap.

The Patent Pending Julian Strap was invented by Jeanette McDowell of San Bernardino, CA who said, “The Julian Strap allows a patient to be able to keep the tubing affixed and yet out of the way. We have a prototype which is efficient and works perfectly. Caregivers need not worry about the tubing getting tangled or disconnected when working with the patient and it provides security for both.”
