Why nearly $1 trillion in buybacks isn’t money well spent

U.S. companies are expected to return roughly $1 trillion in cash to investors this year via stock buybacks and dividends, up 18% from 2014. But that money would be better spent pursuing overseas deals, according to analysts at Goldman Sachs.
