3M Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit to Protect Optically Clear Adhesive Products

3M Innovative Properties Co. and 3M Korea Ltd. filed a patent infringement lawsuit on May 4, 2015, in the Seoul Central District Court against LG Hausys Ltd.

The suit alleges that certain LG Hausys Ltd. optically clear adhesive products infringe 3M’s Korean Patent No. 1,162,463 titled "Cloud Point-Resistant Adhesives and Laminates."

3M’s high performance optically clear adhesives are integrated into electronics to form a brighter, thinner, more colorful and more energy efficient display for smartphones, tablets, notebook PCs, monitors, and LCD TVs. Formulated specifically for electronic displays, touch panels and other applications requiring an optically clear bond, these innovative transparent, film-free isotropic adhesives allow accurate color and full display brightness, while providing a long-lasting, high strength bond.

3M is committed to protecting its intellectual property and investments in innovative optically clear adhesives technologies.
