“Seven Disciplines of A Leader” Author Launches Bold New Leadership & Coaching Program Commencing Forth of July To Spark Renewed Leadership Spirit In America’s Workforce

La Jolla, CA“Seven Disciplines Of A Leader” author and leadership expert Jeff Wolf is known as one of America’s top business authors, speakers, and thought leaders.  He has been interviewed by CNBC, Fox, NBC, CBS Radio, and Inc. Magazine for his leadership expertise and commentary.  And he has coached, trained, and motivated tens of thousands of top executives and corporate clients spanning publicly traded companies from Citibank (NYSE: C) to Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM), Sony (NYSE: SNE),  Hyatt (NYSE: H), Samsung (PINK: SSNLF), and more.

Now as America approaches it’s next Fourth of July to contemplate it’s cherished ideals, beliefs, and place in history, Wolf says he has an inspiring message for those convinced America has been drifting into decline, and that it’s once acclaimed work ethic is a part of the past: “don’t you believe it.”

On the heels of the publication success of his book Seven Disciplines Of A Leader, Wolf has announced that on July 4th he will launch a new companion spin-off leadership development and coaching program to amplify on the tried-and-true principles found in his book. Wolf’s book, coaching and leadership program identify nearly a dozen leadership problems Wolf is convinced can be immediately fixed in today’s political, corporate, and military arenas. And he offers nearly a dozen simplified solutions he believes can quickly transform and restore the leadership role for which U.S. companies and America were formerly praised as being the bellwether standard by which all others were measured.

Wolf’s book, coaching and leadership program seem particularly timely: according to a recent Towers Watson survey, nearly two-thirds of U.S. employees are not engaged enough in their work, a trend consistent since 2000.  Costs in lost productivity alone have been estimated to be between $450 billion and $550 billion per year in the United States.  Additional studies now show increasing numbers of employees are preferring to operate at “minimal levels of competence” rather than risk being perceived as take charge leaders who can be “punished” for their exceptional skills by bosses who insist on piling on longer hours and greater responsibilities, and thus create diminished personal lives for those whom they should actually be venerating as their most prized assets.

“Part of the problem today is that everyone is being forced to do more with less,” Wolf observes. “So many workers and leaders are still in pure survival mode after the Great Recession. And our culture and society have become a sobering reflection of that. Instead of nurturing employees today to develop their best skills, and to come together in a positive team spirit to creatively solve the many challenges they’re facing, many corporations are actually discouraging emerging leaders within their organizations by piling disproportionate workloads and responsibilities onto the shoulders of the few ‘true stars’ who have bravely stood out to demonstrate their take-charge initiative and true underlying talent.  In essence, ‘we have met the enemy – and it is us.’

Wolf believes a whole new paradigm shift needs to be embraced by corporate, political, and even military leaders to align their missions with America’s evolving demographics, workforce aspirations, and expectations.  His book and now companion leadership and coaching program strongly encourage executives, managers, and even employees to think about how their passion, purpose, and penchant for teamwork fit into the new 21st Century workplace.  And surprisingly, Wolf provides some old-fashioned ideas on how to accomplish just that.

“All of the approaches I cover are based on long proven principles – designed to provide insights into how to not only inspire authentic leaders in corporations again, but a culture of achievement that permeates entire organizations so that everyone involved can see themselves as winners,” Wolf notes.

A good leader, Wolf observes, can get results, but a great leader can inspire his team to contribute and sacrifice right alongside, frequently by knowing how to empower each individual to truly shine with the right tools, guidance, personal encouragement, and custom-tailored rewards that can motivate each to give their personal best.  Wolf is convinced his new program can not only provide an invaluable road map to show individuals how to develop their own personal greatness – but how to also pass it along.

He also believes in practicing what he preaches. “In keeping with various principles I espouse in my book, one hundred percent of the profits from my book are being donated to three Armed Forces charities: Blue Star Families (Virginia), Freedom Station (San Diego) and Building Homes for Heroes (New Jersey),” Wolf states.

“I wanted to spotlight these organizations and to see them benefit because I believe they exemplify key Disciplines of Leadership I talk about,” he continues.

“The people in these non-profits all get up each morning to help vets in need who previously made tremendous sacrifices for all of us.   Through reciprocation, collaboration, and a sense of real service volunteers in these organizations are demonstrating the very best of what they can deliver in line with Discipline Five.  They also clearly love what they’re doing and the impact they’re having, and as a result, are truly passionate about their work, which I discuss in Discipline Six.  The vets, in turn, feel renewed and sustained, which offers them genuine hope, ideas I cover in Discipline Seven…”

“…In sum, these organizations and those they’re serving represent the very best of what’s still right about America – because despite the many obstacles they face each day, they still manage to come together in common cause to inspire and help one another other– and thus truly lead by example.”
