Kia ranked first among non-premium brands and second overall, landing two vehicles in the top 10.

Kia’s overall position is just as impressive as its in-segment rating — the automaker was ranked second overall, behind only Porsche. Two Kia vehicles also earned spots among the top 10, which is a first for the automaker:

Renee Stephens, vice president of U.S. automotive quality for J.D. Power and Associates, praised Kia for its tech offerings, noting that it’s an area where most automakers struggle, while noting that Kia is “getting it right.”
The 2015 Initial Quality Study draws its rankings from surveys of over 84,000 buyers and lessees of 2015 vehicles after they’ve owned their vehicle for 90 days. Kia leapt into second place overall and first among non-premium brands as a result of a 20-point improvement over the previous year’s survey.
Kia’s rise is even more impressive in light of the fact that most automakers fall in the rankings when they launch new vehicles. Despite releasing the completely redesigned 2015 Sedona minivan, Kia has bucked the trend.
