DENVER - Sept. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Jonathan (Toby) Reed grew up in a family where healthy eating was not a major focus. By the time he was 21 years old, his weight ballooned to more than 300 pounds, causing him to feel tired and sick all the time.

Finding no success with fad diets and weight loss products, Reed eliminated processed foods, opted for all natural whole foods and used functional drinks to break his soda habit. After reading an article about ancient tribes using chia seeds to sustain themselves during war, Reed decided to try the seeds for himself. When he added them to drinks, he felt full, energized and great all day while getting much-needed nutrition.

The lifestyle changes worked for Reed. He lost more than 100 pounds and now lives a healthy lifestyle. Wanting to share this success with others, he founded TracHealth as an online retail company in 2004.

Reed wanted to fill the need for portable, nutritious and tasty products, so he started manufacturing his own products in the U.S. under the TRAC Health brand in 2013. “It was a huge shift to go from selling supplements online that I didn't really feel good about, to making our own products that our own family uses on a daily basis,” he adds. The company now has products in natural and traditional outlets across the U.S.

Unfortunately, Reed’s family was not able to adopt the same lifestyle as he did. He lost his brother to heart failure from being overweight when Joe was 31 and lost his parents shortly after due to their poor health.

“Trying to stop the cycle of poor health for others is the passion that drives my business,” explains Reed. “I know that it’s hard enough to make healthy choices on a daily basis but having options that taste good and are portable are harder to find. That’s why we make products that are all natural, great tasting, nutritional, affordable, satisfying/filling and available in portable, on-the-go formats.

Chia seeds provide antioxidants, calcium, fiber, omega 3s, magnesium and potassium, and chia product sales are growing at 239 percent. TracHealth’s chia products are organic, non-gmo, vegan, kosher, soy-free, and gluten-free. They are made in the U.S. with real fruit, vegetables, algae, natural herbs and extracts, and available in bar form, ready-to-drink pouches and packets of powdered mixture that can be added to water.

Products are sold in more than 500 stores nationwide such as Whole Foods with hundreds more locations being added during 2015. For more information, visit www.trachealth.com or call 1-800-596-2032.
