Markets soar after yesterday’s selloff

The markets opened sharply higher with Dow leaping 142 points to 17,982 to recover from yesterday’s steep selloff. Nasdaq soared 46 points to 4,987.

On the upside

EnerNOC (Nasdaq: ENOC) will collaborate with Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) to deploy and maintain energy storage systems in commercial and industrial buildings.

Ocwen Financial (NYSE: OCN) reported lower first quarter earnings and revenue but the stock price rose.

Shares of Voltari (Nasdaq: VLTC) extended its gains.

On the downside

LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD) widened losses for the first quarter and forecast current quarter results that fell far short of analyst expectations.

First quarter earnings and revenue rose for Constant Contact (Nasdaq: CTCT) but the company forecast current quarter results below estimates and lowered its full year guidance.

Cumulus Media (Nasdaq: CMLS) widened first quarter losses as revenue fell.
 
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 3 to 1 on both the NYSE and on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 climbed 14 points to 2100. Bitcoin held steady at $235.
