Aspasia Shappet, CEO MESVision Resumes Helm Succeeds Jim McGrann of VSP Global
ATLANTA - Oct. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Leadership of the National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) recently transitioned to a familiar face as Aspasia Shappet, CEO of MESVision resumed her role as Chairwoman following a vote of confidence from the NAVCP Board at its annual strategic planning meeting in Chicago last month. Shappet previously served as Chairwoman of the organization from May 2013 to May of this year. She succeeds Jim McGrann, who stepped down as a result of the increased demands of his recent appointment to President and CEO of VSP Global, effective October 1st. McGrann made the announcement in Chicago, thanking the Board for their support and wishing Shappet well in her return to the position.

Shappet, President and CEO of MESVision, is passionate about the vision industry where she has dedicated over two decades. Her background includes extensive experience in financial auditing and planning and she has served on and chaired numerous boards.

Following the Board vote Shappet remarked, “NAVCP has been fortunate to benefit from Jim’s experience, intellect, leadership and keen wit since he joined the Board in 2012. I hope to continue the considerable momentum he has built in just a few months as Chairman.”

Shappet will helm the association until a new Chair is elected in May 2016 at the Annual Summit in Nashville, TN. Kate Renwick-Espinosa, former Chief Marketing Officer of VSP Global, ascended to the role vacated by McGrann as President of VSP Vision Care (effective October 1st) and assumed his seat on the NAVCP Board of Directors.

NAVCP Executive Director Julian Roberts stated, “Great leaders place the best interests of the many above those of the individual so it comes as no surprise that VSP Global has recognized Jim’s excellence and entrusted him to competently guide their company for many years to come. I’m grateful for his commitment, leadership and support of NAVCP and look forward to working with Kate as part of an enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with VSP Vision Care.” Roberts added, “Aspasia’s eager willingness to resume her role as Chairwoman after recently fulfilling a two-year term is a testament to her dedication not only to this organization, but the vision industry as a whole. I’m grateful for her unselfish investment to ensure a seamless transition at the highest level of the association.”
