Stuttering Association for the Young Announces Speech-Language Pathologist Ryan Millager Joins SAY

By: PRLog
NEW YORK - Oct. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Ryan Millager, MS CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist, has joined SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young.

Millager joined SAY’s Speech Therapy program because it is fully dedicated to the treatment of stuttering, for children ages 2-18. He will offer speech consultations, diagnostic evaluations, individual and group therapy, teletherapy, parent groups and ongoing professional support.

Taro Alexander, SAY Founder & President said, “Ryan is helping SAY significantly expand its speech program, enabling us to provide speech therapy services for more young people in the NYC tri-state area (and beyond). Ryan has great insight into how speech therapy is best tailored to address each child’s unique speech goals.”

Ryan Millager added: “It’s important for parents and kids to understand that stuttering and its challenges are unique for each person. At SAY Speech Therapy, we are able to work with each person and family to address those unique challenges. And because stuttering is so much more than just a speech disorder, treatment plans often include goals for overall communication, as well as the accompanying issues that impact young people who stutter - crucial issues like fear, low self-esteem, ridicule and bullying. I help prepare kids to succeed in everyday life and proactively address issues that arise at school, at home, and across various social situations. Stuttering should not hold a child back from living the most successful and fulfilling life possible.” Learn more about The Stuttering Association for the Young’s speech therapy program at: www.say.org/programs/speech-therapy/.

Millager previously worked as an inpatient clinician at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and received his graduate clinical experience in the Vanderbilt Hospital Network and The Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. He received an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he completed a Master’s thesis and research in stuttering and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ryan volunteered at SAY for nearly a decade, and it was this life-changing experience that inspired him to become a Speech-Language Pathologist.
