Jobless claims rose last week to send the markets down to a lower close with the Dow slipping 4 points to 17,863. Nasdaq lost 14 points to 5,127.


On the upside


Select Comfort (Nasdaq: SCSS) reported higher third quarter earnings and revenue that surpassed expectations.


Third quarter earnings for Shutterstock (NYSE: SSTK) topped analyst estimates as revenue rose.


GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY) narrowed losses for the third quarter.

On the downside


Enova International (NYSE: ENVA) disappointed with sharply lower third quarter earnings that fell far short of analyst expectations.


Third quarter earnings and revenue for ARC Document Solutions (NYSE: ARC) missed estimates.


Axcelis Technologies (Nasdaq: ACLS) swung to a profit for the third quarter but the company forecast current quarter results below expectations.


In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 10 to 9 on the NYSE and by more than 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped 2 points to 2,099. Bitcoin lost $6 to $387.
