Human Rights Campaign Names Time Warner Cable ‘A Best Place to Work’ for LGBT Employees for Fourth Consecutive Year

Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC) today announced it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.

“Time Warner Cable is proud to be a brand and employer of choice in the LGBT community,” said Jerrell Moore, TWC’s Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion. “TWC’s continued commitment to a workplace that is reflective of our customer communities is mirrored in our growing Employee Network membership. Our Employee Networks, including Out@TWC, assist in creating an environment of inclusion and respect, serve as great brand ambassadors for the company and play a significant role in helping TWC execute our vision and strategy for continued success.”

“In this 2016 Corporate Equality Index, hundreds of major businesses responded to our new standards for workplace equality with exceptional leadership,” said Deena Fidas, HRC Foundation Workplace Equality Program Director. “Time Warner Cable not only meets these standards, it goes above and beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental aspect of its corporate values.”

TWC joins the ranks of 407 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year. The 2016 CEI rated 1,027 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.

TWC’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria resulted in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality. The company was listed in the HRC Foundation’s 2015 buying guide, a consumer resource to companies, products and services that support LGBT workplace inclusion.

TWC has received numerous awards for diversity and inclusion and was named a Top Company for People of Color by the National Association of Multiethnicity in Cable (NAMIC). TWC is consistently ranked as one of the leading companies for women by Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). In addition, the company actively supports more than 11 Employee Networks that provide professional development and leverage the diversity of people and experiences. Employee Networks available to TWC employees include Out@TWC, Asian Pacific Islander Collective, Black Business Employee Network, !Hola TWC!, TWC Able and VetNet.
