Middlesex , NJ - January 8, 2016 - (Newswire.com)

Myeyewear2go has upgraded! We are excited to announce that we now offer digital lens surfacing. Digital surfacing has some great advantages over conventional surfacing and this change will help us provide you with even better products.

Myeyewear2go is a full service optical lab. We produce eyewear for fashion, sunwear, sports, and everyday use at our in-house plastic optical and glass optical lab. Located in Middlesex, NJ, our family owned business prides itself on offering our customers the best prices on the highest quality eyewear.

Put simply, digital surfacing, also known as “free form” processing and “all-format processing” gives us the ability to create any lens to fit any style frame.

Digital lens surfacing is still a new technology. We are continually seeing advances in tools and software as well as lens design. State of the art lathes are used to sculpt the lenses. A lathe is traditionally used in precision machining work. The tool rotates the workpiece on its axis turn or form the workpiece, in this case lenses, to desired shape. The lathe can be used to either sculpt the back of semi-finished lenses or cut free-form lenses to specific designs. Advanced software is used to instruct the lathe on sculpting the lens. Then a laser can be used to etch progressive markings on the lens. Finally, the lenses are polished and smoothed.

Producing lenses using digital surfacing allows us to offer a variety of lenses. You can take advantage of this today. Our labs are already equipped with the tools to create the best lenses available, and because they are in-house we can always offer you wholesale pricing. We can quickly ship anywhere in the United States. All prescription orders ship within 7-10 business days. We can also ship internationally.

You can visit myeyewear2go.com anytime. We specialize in prescription glasses and have the knowledge and experience to produce quality prescriptions in even the toughest frames, such as wraparounds and free-form lenses

Digital lens surfacing offers some noticeable advantages over conventional surfacing. One of the most profound differences is found with progressive lenses, "Progressive addition lens or PAL is a type of multifocal lens that employs a surface with a continuously smooth increase in addition (Plus) power." With conventional lens surfacing progressive lenses were created using glass molds which were heated over ceramic to create the design. The quality of the lens was therefore related directly to the quality of the design. In digital lens production the glass mold is created with digital equipment, producing molds and lenses with greater accuracy and more dependable designs.

We also see changes in free-form lens creation. With digital surfacing the glass molds can be eliminated as the progressive design and the prescription on the back surface of the lenses are created simultaneously. Free-from technology is provides some advanced in vision correction. They help the wearer experience exceptional night and low light vision by reducing glare and halo effects cause by light sources at night. They offer great color vision and contrast perception by maximizing the optics built into the lenses.

Optical engineers use software programs to create the lens designs. That software can talk directly with the lathe used to sculpt the lenses. This means even more precision in the design process. Overall, digital lens surfacing creates lenses that are virtually distortion-free and can be highly customized. This is the future of optical technology. We will continue to see advances in equipment and design.

Our labs are in-house, which sets us apart from most other prescription eyewear stores. This not only allows us to offer you the best prices but also means that we can focus on you, the eyeglasses wearer.  There is no retailer between us and you. We are proud to be able to offer you lenses created with advanced technology at affordable prices. Contact us today to learn more.
