Alphabet, Exxon results to mark midpoint of tough earnings season

With results from Google’s parent company and Exxon Mobil Corp. in the week ahead, more than half the companies on the S&P 500 Index will have reported quarterly results in a tough earnings season that is showing little sign of improvement.
