Dr. Michael P. Osborne Has Been Recognized Among the Top in His Industry by the Expert Network©

Dr. Michael P. He received both a fellowship and became Certified in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 1984, he received a fellowship from the American College of Surgeons. He has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including the Norman C. Lake Prize in Surgery, William Travers Prize in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Thomas Henry Green Prize in Clinical Medicine, and many others.

With over 45 years dedicated to medicine, Dr. Osborne  brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and in particular, to his area of expertise, oncology. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in medicine, Dr. Osborne  said:

"I developed acute appendicitis when I was ten years old. I was pretty sick, and I was in the hospital for a long time. That was when I developed an interest in medicine. So I have wanted to practice medicine since I was ten, and it’s exceeded all my expectations."

Dr. Osborne is currently the President of the Strang Cancer Prevention Institute, perhaps best known for developing the Pap Test. He also serves as the Director of Strang Cancer Screening and Prevention Program  and continues to practice in New York at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital.

As a thought-leader in his field, Dr. Osborne  uses his extensive experience, practice and research to apply his expertise towards the future of medical screenings. He noted:

"We’re looking to improve cancer screening in the United States. The one big problem with cancer screening is there are far too many physicians ordering screenings for the wrong patients. While there is underuse, there is not necessarily an underuse problem, but instead, too much overuse - screening the wrong people at the wrong time with the wrong needs. Early detection is critical. Early detection is your best protection.”

Dr. Osborne  has been elected to many prestigious positions at numerous medical associations, including the former President of the New York Metropolitan Breast Group, the former Secretary General of the International Society for Cancer Chemoprevention, and the President of the New York Surgical Society. He is a member of the American Surgical Association.
