Lives saved with World's first personal tornado detector

By: PRLog
PALM CITY, Fla. - April 27, 2016 - PRLog -- US-based tech firm Early Alert have launched the world's first personal tornado detector. The patented technology is the first of its kind that is available to the public. Unlike weather radios, 'Tornado Alert' detects actual tornadoes rather than relying on satellite- and radar-based weather information, resulting in warnings that are wrong 75% of the time and can take up to 15 minutes or longer to reach people in harm's way. The electrical nature of tornadoes can cause power outages, down phone lines and radio towers, thus nullifying traditional warning technology and ultimately costing lives, typical problems that do not affect the performance of this cutting edge new technology.

Tornado Alert works by detecting the unique electromagnetic frequency emitted by tornadoes, the same detection technology that NASA and NOAA are using in their $11b GOES-R Weather Detection Satellite, due to enter Earth's Orbit later this year. In direct comparison, Tornado Alert provides individuals with similar technology at an affordable price of $98.95, delivering real-time warnings to the home without a reliance on existing and flawed severe weather warning delivery infrastructure. Since 1940, The US National Weather Service (NWS) has reported over 7,555 tornado related fatalities. During the last decade alone, tornado related damage is believed to be in excess of $60b (NOAA). Both the lives lost and the huge financial impact of tornadoes has only increased over the years, with a shocking amount of tornado related fatalities, with 533 reported in 2011.

Over the last 40 years, extensive research has proven that tornadoes are the result of severe electrical activity, a commonly unknown fact, but one which Tornado Alert's patented technology uses to detect in real-time the proximity of a tornado.

Early Alert CEO Hans Wagner said, "After several years of testing and perfecting the technology, people at risk now have an affordable, yet cutting edge solution that provides up to 30 minutes' warning, 95% accuracy and a 30-mile detection radius from their home."
