Dolby Lake Controller v.5.0 Software Release Enables New Digital Audio Networking Functionality in Dolby Lake Processor

At the International Musikmesse Frankfurt, Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) today announced the scheduled release of version 5.0 of the Dolby® Lake® Controller software, together with firmware updates already in production. Dolby Lake Controller version 5.0 adds powerful new networking, routing, and control features and functionality to the Dolby Lake Processor, including Dante networking technology from Audinate.

Dolby will be demonstrating the latest networking capabilities of the Dolby Lake Processor with its local distributor EAS, Excellent Audio Support in Hall 8, Stand 42 at the International Musikmesse Frankfurt.

Dolby Lake Controller version 5.0 enables new input and output routing. Each input source may be routed to any number of available outputs, which provide audio distribution to multiple physical outputs and output types. Input AutoSelect allows assigning of up to four input sources to each mixer channel to enable input audio redundancy. Input/output pass-through and processing module output routing is fully flexible. Version 5.0 will also include the ability to configure the output cards to allow any custom configuration of the I/O card slots.

The new release includes a firmware update to the Dolby Lake Processor (DLP). The upgrade enables the router and Dante networking features. The DLP natively supports 16 AES S/PDIF digital audio inputs and eight Dante digital audio network inputs, with 16 AES S/PDIF digital audio outputs and 16 Dante digital audio network outputs. Quad A/D converter cards can add up to 16 analog audio inputs and quad D/A converter cards can add up to 16 analog outputs. The Dolby Lake CobraNet card can add eight input and 16 output channels of CobraNet audio networking.

Dante enables reliable, sample-accurate, low-latency digital audio networking and distribution over Ethernet with no additional hardware required. Built into the Dolby Lake Processor, Dante provides easy-to-use audio routing, scalable from single-channel, point-to-point delivery to multiple-channel broadcasts. Dante connects directly to PCs for multichannel recording, processing, and playback.

Dolby Lake Controller v.5.0 also adds super module functionality, allowing the user to control multiple modules, running across multiple frames, as a single entity within the user interface. A super module can be a combination of two or more processing modules that act in unison to provide the same input processing but different output processing in order to implement a multiway crossover. A new subsystem feature saves user-defined processing configurations encompassing subsets of modules, groups, and super modules for later recall.

The new Preset Manager feature presents a simple drag-and-drop interface for managing presets on multiple units. Presets can be created, named, copied, locked, and transferred across multiple processors of the same type and also stored for backup or transfer purposes.
