Construction equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) posted lower second quarter profits of 60 cents per share compared with $1.74 per share but boosted its 2009 profit forecast citing particularly strong demand in China. The stock price climbed $2.08 to $38.73.
