Founder of Women in eDiscovery, leaders at BDO Consulting and Pangea3 join ACEDS Advisory Board

PR Log - Nov 02, 2011 - Miami – The Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists (ACEDS) today announced that Shawnna Childress, founder of Women in eDiscovery and a Navigant Consulting Inc. e-discovery expert, Stephanie Giammarco, a top BDO technology and e-discovery global expert, and Gregory McPolin, a lawyer and top executive at Pangea3, a leading legal process outsourcing Thomson Reuters subsidiary, have joined the ACEDS Advisory Board.

The Board guides ACEDS management in its worldwide programs that are offered to businesses, lawyers, litigation support professionals, information technology specialists, knowledge officers and government agencies. The centerpiece is the acclaimed Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) certification, which was released in November 2010 and has been earned by professionals in several countries.

Alvin Lindsay, partner at Hogan Lovells, in Miami, is Chair of the ACEDS Advisory Board, which is composed of diverse, distinguished professionals who guide the international body in its groundbreaking work. (See http://aceds.org/about/advisory-board)

Shawnna Childress
Director at Navigant Consulting and co-founder and executive director of Women in eDiscovery, a 5,000-member global organization, she is co-author of the book eDiscovery Plain & Simple, and a frequent author on the subject, she has worked in legal services for 20 years. At Navigant, she focuses on electronic discovery, litigation readiness and data analysis with emphasis on strategic consulting, identification, preservation, collection, review and production of electronic records in litigation, investigations and litigation preparedness. Women in E-Discovery brings together businesswomen interested in legal technology and provides opportunities to allow them to grow through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.

Stephanie L. Giammarco, CEDS
A partner at BDO Consulting, she leads the Computer Forensics and E-Discovery practice. For 16 years, she has provided litigation and investigative services to a wide range of Fortune 500 clients and law firms. Her consulting and advisory services have been provided in matters ranging from class actions, internal investigations, and securities and financial statement fraud. Using tools of computer forensics, e-discovery, data mining and electronic extraction, she has led complex financial fraud cases. She testifies on behalf of businesses concerning e-discovery practices and often speaks and presents papers on e-discovery and computer forensics topics.

Ms. Giammarco said "I’m excited about serving on the ACEDS Advisory Board. I have been a big proponent of CEDS certification and will continue to be."

Greg McPolin
Vice President and Managing Director at Pangea3 Global Litigation Solutions, a Thomson Reuters business, he frequently writes and speaks on e-discovery and legal process outsourcing. A lawyer, he often advises legal departments and law firms on meeting litigation objectives through outsourcing legal services in a streamlined, cost-effective way. His experience in e-discovery and project management began in Washington, DC with Howrey LLP, where, as part of the antitrust practice, he managed document review and production projects in large "second requests." He also spent six years at Applied Discovery where his clients included Fortune 500 companies and large multinational law firms.
