Robotics Alley Announces “Robotics Day” at the Minnesota State Capitol

Government leaders and staffers will get a chance to meet some of Minnesota’s most fascinating robots on January 28 when Robotics Alley hosts “Minnesota Robotics Day” in the rotunda of the State Capitol.

“Minnesota’s Twin Cities have emerged as a leading industrial cluster within the global robotics industry,” said Robotics Alley’s Executive Director, Andrew Borene. “On January 28th, Minnesota’s legislators, state government leaders, and the public will have the opportunity to learn about some of the companies, universities and other organizations driving job creation and economic growth in the booming field of robotics.”

“The experience of Robotics Alley has been transformative. We have taken a loose grassroots organization from a concept and grown it into a globally recognized industrial cluster development initiative. Robotics is rapidly transforming industries from medicine and agriculture to security and industrial manufacturing, and it is particularly exciting to see our region emerge as one of the leaders in this field.”

Robotics Alley has been organizing a group of U.S. companies, government officials, and academic leaders around industrial leadership in the field of robotics and autonomous systems. Most recently, the group announced the planned creation of a Twin Cities based chapter of the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems (AUVSI). In addition, robotics excellence is one of the key initiatives of Eric Kaler, President of the University of Minnesota.”

Executives and robotics researchers from the companies and schools will answer questions from legislators and staffers about the products and programs they represent, and talk about job creation potential in the growing global industry.

Robotics Alley hosts an annual conference and exposition in Minnesota’s Twin Cities with the help of the Minnesota High Tech Association. Last November, more than 400 leaders in robotics research, design, business development, investment, law and policy shared their insights at the Annual Robotics Alley Conference & Expo in Edina. The 2013 conference will be held at Saint Paul’s RiverCentre.
